Camilla Belich to the Minister of Defence: Did Treasury, the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet, or the Public Service Commission advise against any element of the role reductions being made as part of savings made in Budget 2026 for votes the Minister is responsible for, if any, if so, will the Minister release that advice, broken down by agency, department, Crown entity, company, or other organisation for which the Minister is responsible?

Hon Chris Penk: The public sector transformation announced in the Minister of Finance’s speech on 19 May is included in Budget 2026. The Budget will be followed by a proactive release of documents informing budget decisions, including advice related to public sector transformation. At this stage, no decisions have been made about specific roles that may be affected.
