22296 (2025). Francisco Hernandez to the Minister of Corrections: What consultations are the Minister’s departments, agencies, crown entities and any other bodies that the Minister is responsible for, if any, planning to open on the week beginning 12 May with employees around any changes to employment roles, employment numbers and any other employment conditions, and how many roles are affected?
Hon Mark Mitchell: I am advised that on 15 May 2025, Corrections proposed further changes as part of their proposal for change currently being consulted on in their People and Capability Group. The number of potentially affected positions has changed.
Initially, the proposal sought to disestablish 79 positions. The proposal now seeks to disestablish 77 positions, 40 of which are currently filled. Initially it was proposed to reduce the number of positions for particular roles, which would result in a net decrease of a further five positions, however a net decrease of three positions is now proposed. Initially it was proposed to create 35 new roles within People and Capability, however it is now proposed that 46 new roles are created. This results in a proposed net reduction of 34 positions in the People and Capability team. I am further advised that Corrections’ proposal is focusing on disestablishing vacant positions to minimise the impact on people, and as a result there are six more positions proposed to be created than there are currently filled positions proposed to be disestablished.
