22196 (2025). Teanau Tuiono to the Minister for Workplace Relations and Safety: When, if ever, did she ask officials to start work on the Pay Equity Amendment Bill?

Hon Brooke van Velden: In December 2024, the Cabinet Strategy Committee asked for a report back by early 2025 with options for navigating current pay equity claims and a future approach to pay equity. I asked officials to begin work following Cabinet's decision. Cabinet agreed to the proposals on 31 March 2025 and to introduce the Bill on 5 May 2025.
