22185 (2025). Hon Jo Luxton to the Minister for Biosecurity: Will the Government commit to new funding allocations to address the spread of exotic Caulerpa, considering NZIER’s valuation of $9.4 billion of the at-risk area’s natural capital asset value that could be lost over 30 years?

Hon Andrew Hoggard: The Government has invested more than $24 million to respond to the exotic caulerpa incursion. Since becoming Minister for Biosecurity, I have announced two new funding injections totalling $15 million. Critically, because of this funding, we have made significant progress to develop tools to remove exotic caulerpa at scale.
