22002 (2025). Hon Phil Twyford to the Minister of Immigration: Has the Minister received a letter from Community Law Otago concerning alleged financial abuse of Accredited Employer Work Visa holders pressured to borrow money to purchase vehicles; if so, what action, if any, has been taken on this matter since receiving the letter?

Hon Erica Stanford: My office received a letter from the Otago Community Law Centre and as with all such allegations it was referred to MBIE for initial assessment by the National Prioritisation Process (NPP), noting that the Commerce Commission appears to be investigating the allegations. The NPP will consider if there are any breaches of Employment or Immigration Law which would require further investigation.
