21978 (2025). Ingrid Leary to the Minister of Education: What was the total envelope of funding for school counsellors in 2021?

Hon Erica Stanford: I am advised by the Ministry of Education that 1,000 full-time teacher equivalent (FTTE) was allocated for guidance staffing entitlement to secondary schools in 2021. As schools determine how to use their staffing and set salaries, the Ministry does not hold the total cost of this FTTE. In addition, $11 million was funded in 2021 for primary schools for the counselling in schools programme which involves external providers delivering counselling services.
