Rt Hon Chris Hipkins to the Prime Minister: Further to WPQ 19338 (2025), what were the other reasons for exemptions to the Minister Self-Drive Vehicle Selection Policy and Standards, apart from the requirement to travel to remote rural locations with little or no charging stations available, and what weighting was given to each of those reasons in each case?

Rt Hon Christopher Luxon: The other reasons for exemptions relate to the security and safety of the end-user, to drive on rural terrain or unsealed roads and to be able to respond quickly in an emergency. Each request for an exemption is considered on a case-by-case basis.
