21945 (2025). Francisco Hernandez to the Associate Minister of Transport: How, if at all, does the Minister or any member of their office use Artificial Intelligence when formulating responses to parliamentary written questions and oral questions in the House?

Hon James Meager: My office does not currently use AI to respond to written parliamentary questions or oral questions. We do use AI, such as Google searches, in our day to day work. Minister's offices are free to use/encouraged to use GenAI in ways that are safe, transparent and responsible, in alignment with the recently released Responsible AI Guidance for the Public Service: GenAI. This includes ensuring that there is human review of GenAI outputs used to support the development of written content such as advice and communications.
