21114 (2025). Dr Tracey McLellan to the Minister of Corrections: What number and proportion of prisoners. if any, are sentenced for over and under two years in total and at each prison as at 31 March 2025?

Hon Mark Mitchell: Corrections manages people on sentences and orders at the direction of the Courts and the New Zealand Parole Board. Corrections does not determine whether a person is sentenced to prison or the length of their sentence. I refer the member to the attached table which provides the number and percentage of people sentenced to under two years imprisonment and over two years imprisonment, as at 31 March 2025.
