21108 (2025). Tangi Utikere to the Minister of Local Government: Further to WPQ 15914 (2025), does he expect that councils will receive funding from sources other than the Department of Internal Affairs for the implementation of Local Water Done Well; if so how much and from what sources?

Hon Simon Watts: I do not expect councils to receive funding from other public sector agencies to implement Local Water Done Well. The Department of Internal Affairs, which is the lead agency for Local Water Done Well, does not track funding that councils may receive from other non-governmental sources to implement Local Water Done Well. I do expect that Councils will continue to utilise borrowing from the Local Government Funding Agency as part of their core council operations, including for delivery of water services.
