Hon Karen Chhour: I am advised that in 2024 Oranga Tamariki introduce a trial for a temporary frontline position, the Allied Support Worker. The intention was to provide a dedicated support to social workers which enabled social workers to have more time to focus on their core work, social work practice. Many of the Allied Support Workers are in the final stages of completing their social work qualifications and work as Allied Support Workers until they achieve registration.
