21037 (2025). Hon Willow-Jean Prime to the Minister for Children: When, if at all, will Oranga Tamariki's Social Work Workforce Strategy be complete?

Hon Karen Chhour: I am advised by Oranga Tamariki that they are developing key components of a social work workforce strategy, which I understand is nearly complete. I am further advised that Oranga Tamariki have also recently commenced work to better understand and strengthen their capacity for their core care and protection services, which ultimately will assist Oranga Tamariki in how they deliver their services. I am also advised that the Social Workers Registration Board has responsibility to produce a sector-wide workforce strategy. Oranga Tamariki is a key partner in this work and has assigned actions in the draft plan.
