20883 (2026). Hon Jo Luxton to the Minister of Transport: Has there at any point been a change in NZTA funding status or funding approval position for the rebuild of Pauariki Bridge on Hikuwai Road, and if so, when were these decisions made?

Hon Chris Bishop: I am advised by NZTA that it deferred funding approval for the Pauariki Bridge in September 2024 pending further investigation and design. NZTA then approved funding for investigation, design and professional services in December 2024. However, it subsequently declined funding for the rebuild in April 2026 because it was not providing sufficient value for money.
