Mike Davidson to the Minister for ACC: Will the Minister acknowledge the World Health Organisation's finding that firefighters are at risk of occupational exposure to carcinogens and if so, what steps, if any, will he take to ensure meaningful and ongoing support for firefighters that develop cancer?

Hon Scott Simpson: Corrected reply: I note the World Health Organisation's finding that firefighters are at risk of occupational exposure to carcinogens. The Accident Compensation Scheme provides cover for diseases caused by work, including where paid firefighters are affected by cancer caused by their employment.
