Hon Willow-Jean Prime to the Minister for Children: Further to 5382 (2026), what are the specific delivery timeframes for the work to support all child and young people to be safe, supported and receive tailored care, including new approaches to caregiver support, standard operating procedures and assurance mechanisms for community and remand homes?

Hon Karen Chhour: I am advised by Oranga Tamariki that this four-year programme of work is underway. I am further advised that there are seven funded deliverables with varying delivery timeframes across the length of the programme. Current priority focus areas includes: initial pilots relating to respite care and supports to parents preparing to resume care, the development of placement availability and suitability tools, and scoping activities for standard operating procedures and capability development (learning supports for staff and caregivers).
