20460 (2026). Hon Dr Megan Woods to the Minister for Energy: What assessment, if any, has the Minister made of the risk that importing LNG could link domestic gas prices to international LNG prices?

Hon Simeon Brown: I have had advice on the potential effects of LNG on gas prices in New Zealand. The recent PWC/GIC Gas Supply and Demand Study suggests that without LNG, domestic gas prices could rise to $31/GJ (compared to an LNG price of around $25/GJ).
