Hon Peeni Henare to the Minister of Statistics: What discussion documents have the Minister’s responsible agencies, if any, released for public consultation during the period 27 November 2023 to 28 May 2024, and on what date, if any, did the Minister’s Office receive these documents for their feedback?

Hon Andrew Bayly: I am advised that Stats NZ has released the following discussion documents for public consultation during the period of 27 November 2023 to 28 May 2024: • Modernising our approach to the 2028 Census, with consultation beginning on 8 May 2024 and scheduled to end on 18 June 2024. • Help shape the future of industrial classifications in Aotearoa New Zealand, with consultation beginning on 25 January 2024 and closing on 26 April 2024. Neither discussion document was provided to by my office for the purposes of feedback. I received a draft version of the discussion document 'Modernising our approach to the 2028 Census' on 21 March 2024 for noting, and a final version of this discussion document was included with the Cabinet paper 'Modernising and transforming the 2028 Census: Public consultation document'.
