20193 (2026). Debbie Ngarewa-Packer to the Minister of Education: Was the Māori Education Ministerial Advisory Group involved in the design of the proposed replacement for NCEA, and if so, what was their feedback?

Hon Erica Stanford: The Māori Education Ministerial Advisory Group (MAG) provided me with advice on the proposals for change. Overall, the MAG advised me they endorsed the direction of change. Both officials and I continue to meet with the MAG to discuss how we are reflecting their feedback with the design and implementation of the new qualifications.
