Hon Peeni Henare to the Minister of Conservation: What discussion documents have the Minister’s responsible agencies, if any, released for public consultation during the period 27 November 2023 to 28 May 2024, and on what date, if any, did the Minister’s Office receive these documents for their feedback?

Hon Tama Potaka: I am advised that the Department of Conservation (DOC) has interpreted the member’s request for ‘discussion documents’ to include any document that was identified or referred to by DOC as a discussion document, such as ‘Te Koiroa O Te Koiora’ (2019), which is publicly available here: https://www.doc.govt.nz/globalassets/documents/conservation/protecting-and-restoring/biodiversity-discussion-document.pdf I am further advised that DOC did not conduct targeted or public consultation on any such documents during the timeframe requested by the member. I have also received no draft discussion documents for feedback within this time period.
