20031 (2025). Francisco Hernandez to the Minister of Agriculture
Written Question
Published date: 16 May 2025
20031 (2025). Francisco Hernandez to the Minister of Agriculture: How much, if anything, did the Minister's departments, agencies, crown entities and any other bodies that the Minister is responsible for, if any, spend on flights in 2025 to date, broken down into international and domestic flights?
Hon Todd McClay: International and domestic travel is an important aspect of the Ministry for Primary Industries’ (MPI’s) work, and many staff are required to be mobile within New Zealand or overseas to provide or deliver services and operational activities to primary industry customers and stakeholders. International travel enables MPI staff to focus on market access, international policy, biosecurity protections, and New Zealand’s trading opportunities.
I consider that the time and resources, and hence the expense, required to answer this question within the timeframe allowed for written parliamentary questions is not in the public interest, in accordance with Speaker’s Ruling 210/6. I refer the Member to MPI's Annual Review material that will be publicly available in late 2025.
