Hon Penny Simmonds: I am advised that there were 2,185 learners reported to TEC that completed a nursing qualification in 2025. These learners completed a Nursing Council of New Zealand accredited nursing qualification that is a prerequisite for registration, as listed on the Nursing Council website. The qualifications include degree (Level 7), honours degree (Level 8), and master’s (Level 9) programmes. Caveats: - Data is as at 25-May-2026 and has been sourced through administrative data held by TEC. - Data relates to learners reported in 2025 under the following funding sources: Delivery at Levels 7 (degree) to 10, International Fee-Paying Student, and Domestic Full Fee-Paying Student. - TEC does not hold graduation data, only the year in which the qualification was completed. The completion year is the year the learner met the requirements for graduation and may not necessarily be the learner’s graduation year. - All learner numbers in this information request have been rounded to the nearest five. - Results are based on information reported through the SDR for the purposes of funding tertiary education. The data does not include any reporting outside of the SDR and relies on the accuracy of data reported by TEOs. - This data has been compiled specifically to respond to this question. It uses administrative data collected by the Tertiary Education Commission for the purposes of funding tertiary education and relies on the accuracy of data reported by TEOs.
