Ingrid Leary to the Minister of Health: Were any positions originally proposed under the extra frontline health funding, announced in November 2024, subsequently paused, cancelled, deferred, or not progressed during 2025; if so, how many positions were affected and in which hospitals?

Hon Simeon Brown: I refer the Member to Written Parliamentary Question 19657 (2026). I am advised that information on paused, cancelled or deferred roles is not held centrally by Health New Zealand and therefore providing the Member with this information would require it to undertake a substantial manual collation exercise and divert staff from their core duties. In accordance with Speaker’s Ruling 210-6, I consider that the time, and hence the expense, of answering the Member’s question is not in the public interest
