19974 (2026). Francisco Hernandez to the Minister of Statistics: How, if at all, has artificial intelligence been deployed in a customer service function in the Minister’s departments, agencies, crown entities and any other bodies that the Minister is responsible for, if any?

Hon Scott Simpson: Stats NZ has not deployed artificial intelligence (AI) for direct interaction with the public in customer service functions. However, it has deployed AI in a range of functions that support customer service and engagement with users of official statistics.
