19970 (2026). Francisco Hernandez to the Minister for the Environment: How, if at all, has artificial intelligence been deployed in a customer service function in the Minister’s departments, agencies, crown entities and any other bodies that the Minister is responsible for, if any?

Hon Nicola Grigg: The Ministry for the Environment does not have a customer service function and has not deployed artificial intelligence for such a purpose. The Environmental Protection Authority’s (EPA) contact centre staff have access to Copilot Basic, along with all staff. EPA use of Copilot is in accordance with the Public Service AI Framework.
