19916 (2024). Ingrid Leary to the Minister for Mental Health: Does the Minister intend to increase the number of mental health and addiction hospital beds, if so, how and by what date?

Hon Matt Doocey: Improving timely access to mental health services is one of my priorities. As such, I am advised that Health New Zealand is advancing a Mental Health and Addiction Service Campus Plan which will identify a detailed national picture of the current and projected required levels of capacity in Mental Health Services. This work will be based on population projections and evidence on bed/population ratios that incorporate equity, access, and rurality.
