19912 (2025). Arena Williams to the Minister of Commerce and Consumer Affairs: Further to WPQ 18387, between 2015 and 2025, have any New Zealand lenders, if any, forgot to include their address on a loan document and had to cancel all interest and fees until the mistake was fixed?
Hon Scott Simpson: My office does not hold this information. My example illustrated how under the current legislation, lenders could be subject to unreasonable penalties for minor and inconsequential omissions. If there have been any cases of this occurring, and if the Commerce Commission decided to investigate those cases, the information would be publicly available on the Commerce Commission’s website at https://comcom.govt.nz/case-register.
