19871 (2026). Hon Kieran McAnulty to the Minister of Housing: Further to his reply to Question 18748 (2026), why has Kāinga Ora started over 2,000 fewer tenancies for people from the Housing Register between 1 July 2025 and 31 March 2026 than it housed in the same period in the previous financial year?

Hon Chris Bishop: Kāinga Ora - Homes and Communities advises me that the decrease in the number of tenancies that started over this period reflects high occupancy across the public housing portfolio, together with a reduced number of homes becoming available for placement.
