19870 (2024). Hon Dr Ayesha Verrall to the Minister of Health: What progress, if any, has been made in the quarter October to December 2023 in actioning the recommendation ‘Primary health organisations (PHOs) provide advice to practices that children of eligible parents do not need to present a birth certificate to prove eligibility for enrolment’ under ‘Priority Area 4: Enrolment into health services from birth’ within the ‘Initial Priorities for the National Immunisation Programme in Aotearoa 2022’?
Hon Dr Shane Reti: I am advised that there is a requirement to prove eligibility for funded health services in New Zealand. Birth certificates are not necessarily required if parents are eligible for health care services, as the child is then also eligible.
