Hon Kieran McAnulty to the Minister of Housing: Further to his reply to Question 17954 (2026), how did Kāinga Ora employees’ score for their feelings about their work, engagement, motivation and overall experience in the last three periodic Organisational Health Index surveys, if any, and how did those scores benchmark against the broader global benchmark provided by the survey company?

Hon Chris Bishop: Kāinga Ora - Homes and Communities advises me that it has undertaken two Organisational Health Index (OHI) surveys (2020 and 2024) since Kāinga Ora was established in October 2019, and has not confirmed yet when the next one will take place. The results of the OHI survey did not aggregate to a score on feelings about work or engagement. The overall health score in 2020 was 61 and in 2024 was 52. The score for motivation in 2020 was 71 and in 2024 was 45. Please be aware that given the amount of time between surveys, the results are not directly comparable. The 2024 results were in the lower quartile of the global benchmark. In response to the results of the 2024 OHI survey, Kāinga Ora established a workstream as part of its wider organisation-wide Transformation Programme to strengthen organisational health across key areas.
