19860 (2025). Rachel Boyack to the Minister of Health: What services will be housed in the Inpatient Unit for Nelson Hospital listed on Page 8 of the Health Infrastructure Plan?

Hon Simeon Brown: As the Member will be aware, redeveloping Nelson Hospital is a key priority for this Government as part of our focus on delivering access to timely, quality healthcare for all New Zealanders - including the people of Nelson - and we remain committed to the project. As this project remains under active consideration, disclosing this information at this time would not serve the public interest. I note that, as has been publicly reported and confirmed by Health New Zealand, the scope of the redevelopment was revised to a staged approach prior to the change of Government in 2023. I also note that the previous government committed to starting the project during the last term of Parliament.
