19855 (2025). Hon Julie Anne Genter to the Minister for Rail: Did he request information on the estimated emissions impact of retiring the Aratere, and if so, what is this impact in CO2-e, and if not, why didn't he ask for this information?

Rt Hon Winston Peters: No. We focussed on the commercial and customer impact elements. However, we expect a positive carbon effect as Interislander ferries run on diesel and one less ferry in service with lower overall sailings will mean carbon emissions reduce.
