19850 (2026). Tangi Utikere to the Minister for State Owned Enterprises: How many of the 132 stores from which New Zealand Post is withdrawing services following the January 2026 network changes had, within the past five years, invested at their own expense in New Zealand Post-branded equipment, counters, signage, or fit-out, and what is the estimated aggregate value of that sunk investment?
Hon Simeon Brown: I am advised that NZ Post provides its branded equipment for agents' use and retain ownership of most these assets. If any branded asset is owned by the agent, NZ Post will take care of de-branding it as part of the closure process as agreed with each business owner. There has been no further investment made by agents other than the assets they purchased as part of their contract when starting to provide NZ Post services
