Francisco Hernandez to the Minister of Police: What specific assurances, if any, did the Minister seek with the Minister of Finance that the reduction in funding of the police by $55 million in the previous budget would not lead to frontline police staff having to be diverted from core tasks to fill functions being done by non-uniformed police staff?

Hon Mark Mitchell: The Member's assertion that there is a "reduction in funding of the police... in the previous budget" is simply incorrect. Budget 24 invested an extra $651 million over four years into Police, including the reinvestment of the $55.11 million in savings that the Member references.
