19845 (2024). Hon Dr Ayesha Verrall to the Minister of Health: What progress, if any, has been made in the quarter October to December 2023 in actioning the recommendation ‘Develop innovative marketing (social and other) materials to counter immunisation complacency, confusion, and lack of confidence in members of the public’ under ‘Priority Area 9: Development of new provider and consumer-facing resources for immunisations’ within the ‘Initial Priorities for the National Immunisation Programme in Aotearoa 2022’?
Hon Dr Shane Reti: I am advised that between October and December 2023, Health New Zealand commenced activity to deliver the childhood immunisations communications plan for 2023/24 using social marketing. Planning also occurred for community action activity to commence in early 2024. There are three streams of activity: • Rollout of Te Whāinga o te Mārama toolkit • A layer of paid social marketing activity targeting Māori and Pacific cohorts. • Aiding communities to establish stronger networks, long-lasting initiatives that are self-supporting (community action).
