19831 (2024). Hon Dr Ayesha Verrall to the Minister of Health: What strategies, if any, have been progressed in the quarter October to December 2023 to promote preventive dental care and oral hygiene education in schools and communities?

Hon Dr Shane Reti: I am advised that during the October - December 2023 quarter, the following strategies were progressed to promote preventative dental care and oral hygiene education in schools and communities: • Delivery of the oral health promotion initiative, including distribution of free toothbrushes and toothpaste, and oral health promotion, to kohanga and preschools, and as part of the Lift the Lip check delivered through Well Child Tamariki Ora services and the B4 School Check. • Delivery of the Community Oral Health Service and work by oral health promoters to promote preventative dental care and education in schools and communities.
