Hon Willow-Jean Prime to the Minister for Social Development and Employment: How many full-time equivalent staff in the Minister's agencies, if any, are working on the Government's response to the Royal Commission into Historical Abuse in State Care and the in the Care of Faith-based Institutions, listed by permanent or temporary, and role?

Hon Louise Upston: I have been advised that staff in a wide range of roles across the Ministry of Social Development are presently engaged in supporting the response to the Royal Commission into Historical Abuse in State Care and the in the Care of Faith-based Institutions. Collectively, this amounts to approximately 10.0 full time equivalent (FTE) staff across the Ministry of Social Development. Additionally, over 100 staff work in the Ministry’s Historic Claims Unit, which manages claims of abuse or neglect for people who were in the care, custody or guardianship of the Child Welfare Division, the Department of Social Welfare, or Child, Youth and Family. Approximately 3 FTE from Historic Claims are currently working on implementing redress change as part of the response to the Royal Commission. On top of this, 25 staff from Information Technology are supporting the implementation of redress change and this amounts to approximately 8-10 FTE staff. This work is for a limited time.
