19802 (2026). Francisco Hernandez to the Minister for the Environment: What advice, if any, has the Minister received regarding any proposed merger of their department, agency, crown entity or any other body that they are responsible for, if any, listed by title and date?

Hon Nicola Grigg: Cabinet has agreed that the Ministry for the Environment will merge with the Ministry for Housing and Urban Development, the Ministry for Transport and the local government functions from the Department of Internal Affairs, to create the Ministry for Cities, Environment, Regions and Transport on 1 July. The Ministry for the Environment provided advice to the Minister for the Environment's office on amending the Environment Act 1986, which was necessary to enable the merger into MCERT to proceed. I have not received advice regarding any additional proposed merger of departments, agencies, crown entities or any other body that I am responsible for in my capacity as Minister for the Environment.
