19773 (2025). Benjamin Doyle to the Minister of Internal Affairs: As at 29 April 2025, what is the total number of paid firefighters currently employed by Fire and Emergency New Zealand?

Hon Brooke van Velden: I am advised by Fire and Emergency New Zealand (Fire and Emergency) that, as of 30 April 2025, a total of 1,801 FTE paid firefighters, including trainees, are employed by Fire and Emergency. This excludes firefighters who are seconded into another role within Fire and Emergency, and firefighters who are on leave without pay or parental leave.
