19724 (2026). Debbie Ngarewa-Packer to the Minister of Education: Did the Minister follow the Ministry of Education's advice to consult Māori before removing Te Tiriti obligations from school boards, and if so, on what date and whom did the Minister meet with?

Hon Erica Stanford: No. School boards are legally separate from the Crown and not part of the core Crown. They therefore should not be delegated a Treaty duty that sits with the Crown. This is also my answer to Written Parliamentary Question 19723 (2026)
