19680 (2026). Hon Willow-Jean Prime to the Minister for Children: Further to 18725 (2026), can the Minister confirm that no work has progressed on developing forecasts, working through the impacts of extended durations with relevant providers, and refining the procurement approach, in relation to extended orders proposed in the Oranga Tamariki (Responding to Serious Youth Offending) Amendment Bill?

Hon Karen Chhour: I am advised that Oranga Tamariki has progressed work to prepare for the extended orders proposed in the Oranga Tamariki (Responding to Serious Youth Offending) Amendment Bill, including developing funding mechanisms and practice for how young people’s plans will include extended orders and associated interventions. Some matters, including specific procurement activities, will not progress further until an enactment date is confirmed.
