Tangi Utikere to the Minister of Transport: Further to Reply 18703 (2026), and noting the differing date ranges provided in that reply and in Reply 8823 (2026): (a) will the Minister table a formal correction to the parliamentary record in respect of any reply found to contain an inaccurate date range; (b) which other replies and public statements relied on the date range provided in Reply 8823, and will each be reviewed; and (c) does the Minister accept that any public description of the vulnerability as having closed on 31 October 2025 requires correction in light of Reply 18703?

Hon Chris Bishop: I expect information provided by NZTA for Written Question 8823 (2026), as with all agency input used to answer Written Questions, to be accurate at the time it is provided. Where an inaccuracy was subsequently identified, I corrected the record in my later answer by setting out the updated and correct information. On that basis, I do not consider a further formal correction to the parliamentary record is required in this instance. I can confirm the incorrect date range for the fraudulent licence conversions was also stated in my response to Written Question 11668 (2026). The single conversion that occurred in November 2025 that included fraudulent or falsified information was the result of an administrative error, as the control implemented on 31 October 2025 was not followed. Accordingly, while the November 2025 case reflects a failure to follow established control and processes, it does not indicate that the underlying vulnerability had re-opened.
