Written Question
Published date: 03 Jun 2026
19610 (2026). Lan Pham to the Associate Minister for the Environment: Does the Associate Minister for the Environment believe his expertise was sufficient to be "Policy Lead" for the development of changes to the National Environmental Standards for sources of human drinking water (as per the 'Ministerial Grouping for Delegated Decisions on National Direction Package'), without any "lead" support from the Minister for the Environment and no consultation with the Minister of Health?
Hon Andrew Hoggard: In regards to consultation with the Minister for the Environment, I refer the Member to my reply to written Parliamentary question 19435 (2026). In regards to consultation with the Minister of Health, officials from the Ministry for the Environment directly engaged with the Ministry of Health during development of the proposed amendments. The amendments have been consulted on, but final decisions remain subject to Cabinet consideration and agreement.
