19600 (2024). Hon Jan Tinetti to the Minister of Education: Will the literacy support for learners who need extra support be individualised; if not why not?

Hon Erica Stanford: Yes. Supports for learners are decided by schools in response to their students’ needs identified through formal and informal assessment and monitoring. Schools make decisions on the most effective support for each student, tailored and targeted to individual need and delivered individually or within a small group as appropriate. Schools will continue to be supported by a range of regional services from the Ministry of Education, such as Resource Teachers Literacy, speech language support, and specialist support staff.
