Hon Marama Davidson to the Minister for the Prevention of Family and Sexual Violence: Further to WPQ 10927, having received no advice about Three Strikes being a violence prevention tool, what evidence-based initiatives is the Government committed to, to achieve “one of their priorities: lowering the amount of victims of sexual assault and family harm in this country over the next few years”?

Hon Karen Chhour: I am actively working with officials and Ministerial colleagues to understand what cross government actions should be prioritised from the National Strategy (Te Aorerekura) through the second Action Plan. The second Action Plan is a vehicle for driving collective efforts towards delivering measurable results, underpinned by evidence of what works and will have impact. This will be supported by the Outcomes and Measurement Framework released last year by Te Puna Aonui. The second Action Plan will act as a delivery plan for Te Aorerekura, as well as contributing to the Government Target to reduce violent crime.
