19586 (2024). Celia Wade-Brown to the Minister of Conservation: What advice, if any, has the Minister received on how much funding is required for Predator Free 2050 to succeed?

Hon Tama Potaka: The Department of Conservation has not provided me with advice regarding the amount of funding required to meet the Predator Free 2050 goal. However, Predator Free 2050 Ltd have informed me via their Briefing to the Incoming Minister 2023 that they estimate the cost to achieve the goal by 2050 to be approximately $8 – $10b ($300 - $400 per hectare) based on current tools and techniques.
