19585 (2024). Celia Wade-Brown to the Minister of Conservation: What advice, if any, has the Minister received on adding hedgehogs or feral cats to the Predator Free 2050 list?

Hon Tama Potaka: The Department of Conservation (DOC) has not provided me with any advice on adding hedgehogs to the list of targeted species under Predator Free 2050. DOC will commence its scheduled review and consultation on the Predator Free 2050 National Strategy in 2024, with it being expected to be finalised in 2025. The list of targeted species of the programme will be considered and consulted on as part of that review, and DOC has advised me that the addition of feral cats will be considered at this time.
