19574 (2024). Tamatha Paul to the Minister of Housing: What impact, if any, is the return of no-cause evictions expected to have on transitional housing demand?

Hon Chris Bishop: I am advised that some landlords have said that the return of no-cause terminations will make them more willing to ‘take a chance’ on tenants they consider to be ‘more risky’. This could reduce reliance on transitional housing at the margins, however the impact is likely to be different in different markets and in a tight rental market, landlords are likely to be able to choose the tenant they consider most suitable.
