19566 (2026). Francisco Hernandez to the Minister for the Environment: What advice, if any, has the Minister requested regarding the Ministry for the Environment fulfilling its responsibilities under the Waste Minimisation Act 2008, listed by title and date?

Hon Nicola Grigg: I have interpreted the reference to the Ministry for the Environment’s responsibilities in the context of the machinery of government changes to establish the Ministry of Cities, Environment, Regions and Transport. Ministers have not requested or received separate advice on fulfilling specific legislative responsibilities as a result of the machinery of government change to establish the Ministry of Cities, Environment, Regions and Transport (MCERT). Statutory responsibilities will transition from the Ministry for the Environment to MCERT in accordance with the relevant provisions of the Public Service Act 2020.
