19555 (2026). Hon Ginny Andersen to the Minister of Police: Further to WPQ 1429 (2026); has New Zealand Police contributed any funding from their baseline towards the Transition to a multi-agency response to 111 mental distress calls, if so, how much to date?
Hon Mark Mitchell: I am advised that Police has contributed equivalent to approximately three months of resources from within its baseline to support this activity, estimated at around $0.3 million in direct staff costs. This reflects three Sergeants and six Constabulary officers, based on salary band mid-points and excludes overheads and the associated vehicle usage costs. Police is unable to provide its exact contribution without undertaking a manual review of individual salaries, overheads, and vehicle-related costs. The time and cost required to undertake such an exercise are not, in my view, justified.
