Tangi Utikere to the Minister of Local Government: Further to reply 18111 (2026): (a) why does the list include communications dated after the date the reply was provided, namely the entries dated 21 May 2026 (Multiple councils, Waimate, Queenstown Lakes, Chatham Islands, Buller/Grey/Westland, Multiple, Selwyn, and Marlborough — all listed as 'Financial sustainability of water services') and Whakatāne dated 28 May 2026; (b) for each of those entries, have the communications in fact occurred, and if so on what date, or are they scheduled, and if scheduled what is the nature and form of the planned communication; (c) why are the Manawatū (13 January 2026), the 21 May 2026 cluster, and the Whakatāne (28 May 2026) entries listed out of chronological order relative to surrounding entries; and (d) for the entries given only as a month (March 2025, April 2025, September 2025), what are the specific dates of those communications?

Hon Simon Watts: In answer to legs a and b of the members question, this was incorrectly entered as 21 May 2026, when it should have been 21 May 2025, and this will be corrected with the house office. For leg c, this was the way the answers ware entered into the system by my office. For part d) • Auckland – Gazetting of the Watercare Charter regulations – 5 March 2025 • Wellington metropolitan councils, South Wairarapa and the regional council – Applying foundational information disclosure to Wellington Water under the Local Government (Water Services Preliminary Arrangements) Act 2024 – 28 April 2025 For the entry “Multiple – Multi council water services council controlled organisations – September 2025” this was an error by my officials who have advised that this entry refers to the letters sent on 10 October under the titles: • Southern councils – Establishment of a multi council water services council controlled organisation – 10 October 2025 • Northern councils – Establishment of a multi council water services council controlled organisation – 10 October 2025 This will be corrected in the revised answer.
